What is Earthing System?

An earthing system, also known as a grounding system, is a direct path to the ground which connected to the electrical equipment to pass the excessive safely to the ground. The grounding system also provides a path for the fault currents to flow to the ground, preventing dangerous voltages from building up on equipment. This helps protect equipment from damage and reduces the risk of electric shock to personnel.

How it works:
In an earthing system, the metal components of electrical equipment are connected to a ground electrode (e.g., a metal rod driven into the ground) through a conductive path. This creates a low-resistance path for fault currents to flow to the ground in case of a fault. This path diverts the fault current away from equipment and people, preventing dangerous voltages from building up and reducing the risk of electric shock.
